The J-Link is a 4-to-1 plus dual player game port selector for IBM
PC/IBM PC-compatible computers. The J-Link can support any standard
gamepad/joystick with up to four fire buttons (i.e. fire button A, B,
C and D) and up to four axes (i.e. axes X1, Y1, X2 and Y2) for any
single player mode selected (i.e. position "1", position "2", position
"3" and position "4"). When using the dual player mode ("1"
position), J-Link can only support standard gamepads/joysticks with a
up to two fire buttons (i.e. fire button A and B) and up to two axes
(i.e. axes X1 and Y1).
Due to the proprietary nature of some manufacturers digital technology
used on their gamepads/joysticks, the J-Link may or may not support
these manufacturers gamepads/joysticks.
In order to ensure that the gamepads/joysticks which are plugged in to
the J-Link are working properly, please check the following:
1. Please do not activate any other fire button on the
gamepads/joysticks which are not currently selected. For example:
if the gamepad/joystick plugged into position "2" has been
selected, only the fire buttons on the gamepad/joystick plugged
into position "2" will be activated.
2. When using the dual player mode ("1" position) only fire
buttons "A" and "B" on the gamepad/joystick plugged in to position
"1" and fire buttons "A" and "B" on the gamepad/joystick plugged in
to position "2" can be activated.
3. Do not activate any auto-fire/turbo function with the
gamepads/joysticks that are not currently use, this may interfere
with the function of the fire buttons on the currently selected
gamepads/joysticks.
4. When using special gamepads/joysticks that use the fire buttons
for other purposes and which cause some of the fire buttons on the
currently selected gamepads/joysticks to function incorrectly,
please unplug this special gamepads/joysticks when not in use.
IMPORTANT POINTS FOR WINDOWS 95 USERS
Please note that without a second joystick hardware interface (i.e.
second PC game port) installed in your PC, you cannot activate the
second joystick or third joystick or the other joysticks displayed on
the joystick setup at the Windows 95 control panel. The J-Link only
acts as a gamepad/joystick selector to select any one of the four
gamepads/joysticks connected to the J-Link at the Windows 95 control
panel for a single gamepad/joystick hardware interface installed on
your PC.
It does not mean that:
a. The first joystick at the Windows 95 control panel is mapped to the
gamepad/joystick 1 at J-Link.
b. The second joystick at the Windows 95 control panel is mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 2 at J-Link.
c. The third joystick at the Windows 95 control panel is mapped to the
gamepad/joystick 3 at J-Link.
d. The fourth joystick at the Windows 95 control panel is mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 4 at J-Link.
It does mean that:
a. The first joystick at the Windows 95 control panel can be mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 1 at J-Link.
b. The first joystick at the Windows 95 control panel can be mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 2 at J-Link.
c. The first joystick at the Windows 95 control panel can be mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 3 at J-Link.
d. The first joystick at the Windows 95 control panel can be mapped to
the gamepad/joystick 4 at J-Link.
Remember, each time you change or select another gamepad/joystick on
the J-Link, at the same time you should change the gamepad/joystick
driver for the first joystick on the Windows 95 control panel
accordingly. For details on the settings for each individual
gamepad/joystick, please refer to the individual gamepad/joystick user
manual for instructions.
